In October 2014, twenty studio potters from Mumbai came together at the Coomaraswamy Hall, Chattrapati Shivaji Vastu Sanghrahalaya (formerly Prince of Wales Museum) to share their creations. The positive response from Mumbaikars made Cerafest an annual event. Cerafest 2015 was consequently held again in October at the same venue.
I have been part of this group and its processes from its inception, and am the secretary of the trust. As organizers of Cerafest, we recently decided to convert it into a trust, which will aim at the upliftment of rural traditional potters, apart from spreading awareness.
